He must have been scared. He must have remembered what happened all those years ago when they first learned about bloodbending, how it was used against himself and Aang. When he was almost forced against his will to run the Avatar through with a sword, the weapon he had created. Even though he has a beard and wrinkles from age, he seems more like a kid here. It looks like it goes just beyond controlling his movements, he’s in pain this time around. I bet he was wishing Katara was there…
